Beyond the Scoreboard

Sport and philanthropy will take center stage on Friday, Sept. 11, from noon to 2 p.m. in Falk 100, when the Falk College of Sport hosts "Beyond the Scoreboard: Women Leading Through Sport and Philanthropy," a panel discussion open to students, faculty and staff. A one-hour panel discussion will be immediately followed by a networking reception.

The event will bring together women who have built careers and legacies at the intersection of athletics and giving back, offering students a firsthand look at how philanthropy can become a career path in the sports industry. The panel will include:

• Lauren Clayborne, founder of Fingerprint Playbook, who advises professional and NIL athletes—including Stephen Curry, Gary Payton II, Ryan Rollins and Dante Moore—on their philanthropic efforts. She previously led social responsibility initiatives for the NBA and NFL.
• Jennifer Granger, a member of the Falk College of Sport Advisory Board and a lifelong philanthropist whose community advocacy work spans organizations including Make-A-Wish, the American Cancer Society, United Way and the Pajama Program.
• Erika Swilley, executive director of the Foundation at the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), who has held philanthropic leadership roles with the Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Sky and Sky Cares Foundation, and Detroit Shock.
• Jordyn White '17, a Syracuse University alumna and director of communications for League One Volleyball (LOVB), who previously led corporate and community communications for the Cleveland Browns and spent more than four years with the NFL.

The panel will be moderated by Pamela Hollander, professor of practice in sport management at Falk College.

Beyond the Scoreboard was conceived by Jennifer Granger to give students the opportunity to engage directly with women working at the intersection of sport and philanthropy. The conversation will explore “sport for good,” a central pillar of the Falk College of Sport, and show students how a passion for giving back can translate into a meaningful career in sport.
