Dear Falk College Students,
Welcome to a new academic year at Syracuse University! I hope you're settling into the fall semester and that your classes are going well. I'd especially like to welcome the Class of 2030 and our new transfer and graduate students—we're so glad you're here and part of the Falk College community.
As we begin our second year as the Falk College of Sport, we're building something special together. I encourage you to make the most of your time here—connect with your faculty and classmates, learn from industry leaders, explore new interests and seek out experiences beyond the classroom. Here's a look at what's new this year, and some ways to get started.
What's New at Falk College
This fall marks the launch of our new Department of Human Performance, bringing together exercise science and nutrition and creating new opportunities for collaboration in teaching, research and experiential learning.
We're also launching The Orange Standard, Falk College's Sport for Good initiative focused on the positive impact sport can have on individuals and communities. You'll hear more about The Orange Standard—and ways to participate—throughout the year.
We're investing in our facilities, too. Renovations are underway in Grant Auditorium to enhance this important space for our Falk community.
Ways to Get Involved
The Student Involvement Fair will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day on the Quad. With more than 300 student organizations at Syracuse University, I encourage you to explore your interests, meet new people and find your place in the campus community.
Here at Falk, upcoming events include Beyond the Scoreboard: Women Leading Through Sport and Philanthropy on Sept. 11 and Game Changers: A Conversation with Mike Levine, CAA Sports on Sept. 17. Both are great opportunities to hear from and connect with leaders across the sport industry.
Other University highlights this fall include Chancellor Haynie’s Inauguration, Sept. 17-18; Family Weekend, Oct. 16-18; and Homecoming, Nov. 5-8. Visit the Syracuse University Calendar to discover more events across campus.
