Falk College of Sport Welcomes Three New Faculty Members to the Department of Sport Management

The David B. Falk College of Sport is welcoming three new faculty members to the Department of Sport Management for the Fall 2026 semester.

Pamela Hollander

Professor of Practice, Sport Management

Pamela Hollander ’89 joins the Department of Sport Management as a professor of practice, teaching classes in Principles of Sales in Sport and Sport Sponsorship and Promotion.

Prior to joining Syracuse University, Hollander was vice president of marketing strategy and client success at The Specialized Marketing Group Inc. (TSMGI) from 2021 to 2026. There, she led sponsorship and events, with responsibility for sponsorship negotiations, strategic marketing plan development and activation. Before TSMGI, she held various roles at Allstate Insurance from 2000 to 2021, including vice president of integrated marketing communications, where she directed sponsorship programs with major sport properties such as NASCAR, the NCAA, and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

In 2013, Hollander was named a Sports Business Journal "Game Changer", an honor recognizing the most influential women executives who have had a significant impact on the sport industry through leadership, innovation and mentorship.

Hollander earned a B.A. from Syracuse University.

Lawrence Norman

Professor of Practice, Sport Management

Lawrence Norman joins the Department of Sport Management as a professor of practice, teaching classes in Professional Development in Sport Management, Sport Marketing, and Sport Product Management.

Prior to joining Syracuse University, Norman was interim head of strategy for Eastside Golf from 2023 to 2026, where he drove strategic planning, branding and partnership development for the lifestyle golf apparel brand. He also served as an adjunct instructor at Clark University, teaching a course titled Marketing to You, an experiential course preparing students to connect brands with Gen Z consumers.

Notably, Norman spent more than 20 years at Adidas where he held leadership roles in global communications, sports marketing, country marketing management, product range management, licensing and new business development.

Norman earned an MBA in 1995 and a B.A. in 1994, both from Clark University.

Janelle Wells, Ph.D.

Professor, Sport Management

Janelle Wells joins the Department of Sport Management as a tenure-track professor.

Prior to joining Syracuse University, Wells was an associate professor at the University of South Florida from 2014 to 2026, where she taught organizational behaviors and leadership, sport and social issues, global environment of sport, and applied market research. Before the University of South Florida, she served as an assistant professor at Florida State University.

Wells' research focuses on leadership dynamics in sport, examining how development, access and success shape outcomes while exploring types of leadership, the impact of culture and leadership on organizations, and the role the gender of a leader plays in their experience. Wells is an editor of the upcoming Handbook of Sport Leadership and has published in leading journals in the field, including the Journal of Sport Management and Sport Management Review.

She has received nearly $400,000 in grants and sponsored research projects from organizations such as the American Athletics Conference Research Grant Program, Women in Sports and Events, Positive Coaching Alliance-Tampa Bay, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Valspar PGA golf championship.

In 2021, Wells was named a research fellow of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), and from 2020 to 2026 she served as deputy editor of Sport, Business and Management: An International Journal.

Wells earned a Ph.D. in 2012 from the University of Florida, an MBA in 2005 from Florida Institute of Technology, and a B.B.A. in 2003 from Georgia State University.
