What New Students Need to Know for Welcome Week 2026

As new Syracuse University students arrive on campus for the start of their first semester, Welcome Week events are planned across campus.

The David B. Falk College of Sport will host a series of events for students and their families to meet Falk College faculty, staff and peers and ensure a smooth transition to college. Required events are noted below.

Aug. 19, 2026

Falk College International Student Mixer

4-5 p.m.

335 White Hall, Falk College

This is an informal reception for Falk College international students, faculty and staff to meet one another.

This event is optional.


Aug. 20, 2026

Open House

1-3 p.m.

335 White Hall, Falk College

New Falk College students, families and supporters are invited to enjoy refreshments and meet Falk College faculty, staff and fellow students.

This event is optional.


Aug. 21, 2026

Peer Advisor Meetings

10:30-11:30 a.m.

Various locations

Students will meet with their assigned Peer Advisor to review important information. Students will receive their assigned meeting location via their Syracuse University email address.

This event is required for all new students.

New Student Welcome

1-2 p.m.

Gifford Auditorium, Huntington Beard Crouse Hall

Dean Jeremy S. Jordan, faculty and staff will share important information to help you begin your first semester.

Please note: Due to ongoing improvement projects at Falk College, the New Student Welcome will take place in Gifford Auditorium in Huntington Beard Crouse Hall. Staff members and student volunteers will be on hand to direct attendees. A campus map is available here.

This event is required for all new students.

Department/Program Meetings

2-3:30 p.m.

Various locations

Following the New Student Welcome, students will meet by academic program with faculty members and classmates.

This event is required for all new students.

Drop-In Advising

11 a.m.-3 p.m.

330 White Hall, Falk College

Office of Student Success staff will be available to assist first-year and transfer students with registration questions and schedule adjustments.
