The esports gaming room in the Barnes Center at the Arch, the first esports space on campus, opened in 2019, followed by the opening of the Gaming and Esports Center in the Schine Student Center, which opened in January of 2025.

The 20,000-square-foot Marley Education Center space, featuring an esports stage, broadcast studios, team rooms, classrooms, and viewing areas for up to 250 spectators, will serve as a hands-on learning environment for students across esports, media, and technology disciplines, offering unparalleled access to the most advanced esports production infrastructure on any college campus.

Syracuse University launched its esports communications and management academic degree program, a dual program between the David B. Falk College of Sport and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, in the Fall 2024 semester. Students who are enrolled in the program pursue one of three tracks: esports business and management, esports communications, or esports media and design.
