Philanthropist, Advocate Joins Advisory Board

The David B. Falk College of Sport at Syracuse University has announced the appointment of longtime nonprofit leader and advocate Jennifer Granger to the Falk College of Sport Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board is an esteemed group of professionals who are aligned with the strategic focus and academic mission of the college. The members foster meaningful connections with students, support their development and provide leadership through giving and active engagement.

"Jennifer's lifelong dedication to advocating for women and children, paired with her extraordinary record of community leadership, makes her a natural fit for Falk College," says Jeremy S. Jordan, dean of Falk College of Sport. "Her passion for community advocacy and expanding opportunities for women and girls in sport aligns closely with our mission, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our board."

Granger is a philanthropist, businesswoman and advocate for women and children. For more than 25 years, she has led fundraising efforts for organizations including Make-A-Wish, The Salvation Army, United Way and the Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center. She has also served as chair and board member for the American Cancer Society, Detroit Music Hall, Gleaners Community Food Bank, Starfish Family Services, Fashion x Philanthropy, Red Jacket Society, and Pajama Program. During her time in New York, she co-founded Spirit of Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to children in the foster care system. She served on Michigan’s Task Force on Women in Sports, a state advisory body created to evaluate and address gender disparities in athletics.

Granger’s determination to serve others emerged early. In her hometown of Trumbull, Connecticut, she challenged long-standing barriers to become the community's first female volunteer firefighter, earning the opportunity to train alongside an all-male squad. The experience inspired her lifelong commitment to expanding opportunities for girls and helping young people envision broader possibilities for their futures.

Throughout her philanthropic career, Granger has helped raise millions of dollars for charities by planning galas and events for organizations such as Suite Dreams and Care House Child Advocacy Center, while also volunteering at food banks, homeless shelters and numerous local nonprofits.

Her leadership and impact have been recognized with numerous honors, including recognition as an Esteemed Woman of Michigan and a Pillar of Vibrancy by The Community House as well as the City Year Ripple of Hope Award.
