Biography
Alexia Lopes (she/her/hers) joined the Department of Sport Management at Falk College in fall 2024 as an assistant teaching professor. She teaches classes in International Sports Relations and Introduction to Sport Management. Her teaching focus is on the international business of sport.Prior to joining Syracuse University, Lopes was an assistant professor from 2022-24 at St. Norbert College, where in two years she started two sport management programs (i.e., a minor and a major) in the Schneider School of Business and Economics. Beyond developing the sport management curriculum and teaching business courses, she was actively engaged in the Green Bay community.
Prior to her move to the United States to pursue her Ph.D., Lopes worked as a career manager for Enzo Lopes, who is a professional motocross/supercross athlete. Her work experiences include internships at a solar energy organization in Brussels, and at the Anheuser-Busch headquarters in Leuven, Belgium, where she lived from 2014-2018.
Lopes’ research focuses on athlete migration and women in sport management. She has presented her research in major conferences in the United States and internationally. Moving forward, she intends to focus on writing case studies. Her newly found passion for cases allows her to research and mentor, as she intends to take students to compete in case study competitions nationally and internationally.
