Biography
Jeeyoon Jamie Kim joined the Department of Sport Management in August 2016 after earning a Ph.D from Florida State University. Her research agenda is anchored on the impact of sporting events on local communities and event consumers. Her areas of specialization include mega sporting events, sport event consumer well-being, destination branding, negotiation of motivations and constraints, and quantitative research methods.Kim has published in refereed journals such as Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, Managing Sport and Leisure, Sport Marketing Quarterly, and Event Management. She received various research grants including the IOC Olympic Center’s advanced research grant, FIFA research scholarship, Sport Marketing Association (SMA) research grant, and CUSE interdisciplinary research grant. She also worked on research projects and consulted for the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee, Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games, and Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees. Kim currently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Sport Management, Journal of Global Sport Management, and Journal of Applied Sport Management.
Prior to entering academia, she served with the Korean Olympic Committee. For five and a half years, she worked for the International Games, International Relations and 2018 PyeongChang Olympics Task Force Teams. She also has experience as an investigator at the Center for Sport Industry at Seoul National University, conducting consulting projects.
Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and master’s degree in sport management at Seoul National University. She earned an executive master’s degree in sport organization management from the University of Poitiers through the MEMOS program (a program endorsed by the IOC).
