In the Fall of 2025, I had the opportunity to complete my Senior Capstone in the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, where I worked with and observed multiple departments, including Dome Concessions, Dome Operations, and Dome Catering. I experienced hands-on learning opportunities regarding hospitality management and venue management. I worked with the concessions team to prepare each week for the upcoming event (football, basketball and Monster Jam). On game days, I managed concession stands throughout the building to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction.
My semester-long project was with Dome Concessions, completing an analysis of the efficiency of each concession stand per event type (football, basketball, lacrosse). I also had the opportunity to observe the catering department to learn how important catering is for every event in the Dome, regardless of its size. I also worked with Dome Operations, where I participated in three changeover events: football to basketball (twice) and football to Monster Jam.
What I enjoyed most about my Capstone was learning and experiencing how different departments in the Dome work together to create successful events. This Capstone experience allowed me to have a greater understanding of the Dome, Syracuse University Athletics, and the University as a whole. I was able to take my knowledge with me as the Head Student Manager for Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse. I will be a graduate assistant with Men’s Lacrosse for the 2026-2027 year, where I will continue my relationship with the Dome.
